Konzept ist zu zeigen wie Dinge anders aussehen,
wenn man sie aus einer anderen Perspektive betrachtet.
›Als erstes malte ich Bilder der geologischen Schicht,
Meeren, Grasland, Städten, Himmeln und Wolken auf
eine Kunststofftafel. Gemalt ist das Ganze in zahlreichen
Schichten, die übereinander gelagert sind. Ich
filmte das Gemälde in Stop Motion während ich die
tieferen Lagen mit Sandpapier aufdeckte. Sieh die
stufenweisen Änderungen in dem was sichtbar und

The concept of this work is how different things look
when seen from different perspectives.
›First I painted images of the geological stratum, seas,
grasslands, cities, skies and clouds on a plastic board.
They're painted in numerous coats, layered on top of
each other. Then I filmed the painting in stop motion as
I revealed the deeper layers with sandpaper. Watch
how what's visible and what's hidden gradually

Keigo Yasui, *1986 in Shiga, Japan. Majored in Video
Media Expressions at OSAKA SEIKEI University, Japan
as an undergraduate then a research scholar. Graduated
in 2011.

PHANTOM RIDE
Elias Heuninck
Phantom Ride ist ein kurzes Video, das 2010 an der
KASK in Gent gemacht wurde. Elias filmte Landschaften
und nahm Geräusche an verschiedenen Plätzen in
Belgien auf und benutzte Footage, das er im Internet
gefunden hat. Eine neue Landschaft erwacht beim
strukturellen Umgruppieren dieser Videodateien. Als
Resultat dieser Veränderung verblassen die erkennbaren
Landschaften und werden ein pures Bild. Bild
und Ton zusammen werden zur Bewegung, oder ist es
ein Stillstand?
Phantom Ride is a short video made in 2010 at KASK,
Ghent. Elias filmed landscapes and recorded sounds
at various places in Belgium and used footage found
on the internet. A new landscape is evoked by structurally
re-arranging these video files. As a result of
this change, the recognisable landscape fades and
becomes pure image. Image and sound together results
in movement, or is it a standstill?
Elias Heuninck, *1986 in Kontich, Belgium. He has
been studying Media Art at the KASK (Royal Academy
of Fine Arts) Ghent, Belgium since 2005.
