De ce film, Le Grand Cortège en est la suite etla fin, puisque c’est aux transferts des résidents d’un lieu vers l’autreauxquels on assiste ici. Mais ces quelques périples solitaires, que lacaméra accompagne dans l’ambulance, résonnent plus gravement, carc’est à n’en pas douter le trépas qui se trouve au bout de la route, commel’évoquent les images pudiques de funérailles que l’objectif attrape deloin. Méditation guère inhabituelle chez Creton que celle sur la disparition,elle prend toutefois ici le tour d’une frontalité particulière, et le passagedu temps se voit froidement représenté par l’automobile, adaptationréactualisée de la fameuse diligence de la Grande Faucheuse.
