João Trabulo a débuté sa carrière avec leproducteur Paulo Branco pour Gemini (Paris) et Madragoa (Lisbonne), sur des filmsde Manoel de Oliveira, João César Monteiro, Robert Kramer et Pedro Costa. En 2004,il a fondé la société de production Periferia Filmes et produit les films de João Canijo,Gabriel Abrantes, Maya Rosa, Jean-Luc Bouvret et Filipa César, parmi d’autres. Il aégalement réalisé plusieurs films, parmi lesquels son premier documentaire, LH;During the End, un docu-fiction sur l’œuvre du sculpteur portugais Rui Chafes, sonpremier long-métrage, Shadows: a sleepwalking film, et son dernier film, No Company.En 2011, il a été choisi par l’ICA pour représenter le Portugal dans le programme« Producers on the Move » de l’EFP au Festival International de Cannes. En 2011 il aégalement fondé le Festival International du Film Cinecoa, dont la première éditionse tiendra fin septembre à Vila Nova de Foz Côa, au Portugal.Lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal.
