ABSTRACT
The research focus of this academic work goes through the individualism and capitalism. But do not
search these two facets of contemporary reality in an area consistent with these same dimensions.
Through a descriptive case study, aims to verify their existence and influence on interviews within
cooperatives, local movements related to the solidarity economy, that preach values such as
collectivism and cooperative. As a result, were able to see that survey participants shows a third
dimension of the matrices capitalism-individualism and collectivism-cooperative, a locus where
they are observed as different but must seek common objectives and compete, but by a collective
hierarchical growth, a group common valorization. Indicates bindings between the categories in
some measure by the dichotomy distortion performed by the solidarity economy in the capitalist
continuum.
