TROUT DISEASES FOUND IN HR, SLO, BIH,
SRB, MN IN THE LAST 3 YEARS
Massimo Sarti 1
147
The increasing trout production, as happened in the last 5 years in HR, SLO, BiH, SRB,
MN, very often has the consequence of increasing the sanitary problems too. In this case
is not completely true: infact, until now, very few diseases were imported from other
Lands, and the increasing of sanitary problems may be more related with what was yet
present in the field before.
About Viral Diseases, IHN is endemic in north SLO, but not in other Countries; IPN is
more or less diffused in many places; the same for SD that perhaps is en “emerging”
disease in many European Countries. Bacterial Diseases: RTFS is absolutely the most
common in trout fingerlins everywhere, and we found some outbreaks of specie-specific
bacterial diseases (ERM in rainbow trout, BKD in grayling, and Foruncolosis in brook
and brown trout). Great diffusion of parasitic diseases as Ichthyophthiriosis, Gyrodactylidiasis,
Mixosomosis (Lentosporosis), and the most diffused Ictyobodosis (Costiosis).
A particular attention is suggested on fish and eggs importation: in these Countries trout
production is quite all in river water and the introduction of diseases (like VHS or IHN)
may be a disaster.
