HAGIWARA 2 Affiliations 1 Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Nihon University School of Dentistry, Tokyo, JAPAN, 2 Department of Oral Implantology Nihon University School of Dentistry, Tokyo, JAPAN Body Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and compare image information obtained using cone beam CT (CBCT) and multi-detector CT (MDCT). Methods: A lower mandible from a human cadaver was examined using CBCT (3DX Accuitomo, Morita Co, Kyoto, Japan) and MDCT (Asteion 4, Toshiba Co, Tokyo, Japan). The height of the mandible was measured in three sections and was calculated as the length of the vertical line from the alveolar crest to the superior border of the mandibular canal in each section. DICOM viewer CT imaging data were simulated using the Nobel Guide Procera software (Nobel Biocare). The simulated images were used for evaluation and examination of cortical and cancellous bones as well as trabecular structures. Results: The quality of simulated images was good for both MDCT and CBCT. However, greater details were obtained from CBCT images. There was no significant difference in the simulations of the implant surgery software images obtained using MDCT and CBCT. Conclusion: CBCT was superior during observations, such as the observations of trabecular structures, and had high distance accuracy. Keywords dental implant,cone beam CT,multi-detector CT 140
P 26 Title EVALuATION OF COMMON ERRORS ON PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPHS IN DAMASCuS, SyRIA Authors L. SALTI 1 Affiliations 1 private clinic, Damascus, SYRIA Body Abstract: Objectives: the aim of this study is assess the most common errors on a sample of panoramic radiograph taken by different radiographic centers in Damascus, Syria. Materials and methods: 550 panoramic radiographs were randomly selected from the author’s patient files and other patient’s files of five dental clinics. The panoramic radiographs were assessed for 25 categories of common faults. Results: there were 83 error-free radiographs. The most common errors were found to be the platoglossal air space above the apices of roots of the maxillary teeth (83.52%0 followed by patient far forward (14.77%).The least most common errors were found to be sharply bent film(0.21%). Conclusion: The quality of panoramic radiographs could be enhanced by improving radiographic technique and processing. Keywords Panoramic radiograph,quality control,film error analysis POSTerS 141
