Body
Introduction: Differences in picture quality between records with and without head movement
simulation quality are to be assessed by visual analysis of individual image sections and comparison
of distance measurements and measurements of Hounsfield Units.
Methods: 200 records of a human head preparation are created with head movement simulation
with the 3D eXam (KaVo).
Results: All records have reproducible results. The analysis of the cone-beam computed
tomography scans shows an increasing image quality and detail with increasing resolution.
The comparison of scans shows absolutely comparable values of distance measurements and
measurements of Hounsfield Units.
Discussion: Different scans show comparable distance measurements and measurements of
Hounsfield Units, but an increasing image quality and detail with increasing resolution. There
will be no practical difference in image quality of the recods, unless it is satisfied that the
patient is not changed in its position during the recording process. Slight movements have no
clinically relevant influence on the resulting metric and visual image quality of the cone-beam
computed tomography scans.
