Body
Objectives: complete healing of bone defects is so important for further prosthetic treatments
because of limitations of auto-genic grafts. Today, osteogenic cells driven from stem cells are
prescribed. As precise and sensitive clinical method is necessary to evaluate the bone formation,
this study was designed to compare autogenic graft a stem cells in bone regeneration by
digital Radiography.
Methods: In this experimental animal study, 4 doges were used. Incisor teeth of dogs were
extracted and two 15 mm bone defects were created in each quadrant of maxilla from crest
to nasal floor and surgical stant was placed and 2 month were allowed for healing of defects
followed by repair with tissue engineered bone from adipose derived stem cells in one side and
tibia auto graft in another side. Bone regeneration was evaluated by digital radiography and
digital densitometers after 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days of graft surgery. Data were analyzed
using ANOVA for repeated data α=0.05.
Result: In all stages, the difference between two side was not statistically significant regarding
the density of formed bone P value=0.942. But almost in most of the follow up periods,
the density of bone related to stem cells were more than auto-genic bone grafts. Bone formed
by auto-grafts had homogenous appearance and cotton wool feature was seen in stem cells
method.
Conclusion:Tissue engineered bone from adipose derived stem cell provide an acceptable alternative
for cases with limited source of auto graft.
