Purpose: This study w<strong>as</strong> designed to investigate the radiological pathologies of the paran<strong>as</strong>al<br />

sinus walls. Materials and methods: Kodak 9000C OPTG scans of patients that have undergone<br />

routine dental examinations were evaluated. Statistical analyses were performed to verify<br />

gender, age and type of radiological sinus pathology. Results: 3311 OPTG radiographs were<br />

evaluated and 64 patients were effected. Outcomes were related with systemic condition of the<br />

patient.<br />

Conclusion: The most common radiographic maxillary sinus finding w<strong>as</strong> mucous cysts, followed<br />

by mucosal thickening and occupation of the whole sinus. OPTG can be considered a reliable<br />

method for the diagnosis of maxillary sinus pathology.<br />
