The <strong>Indiana</strong> University Campus Bus System travels to all points on campus, to downtown<br />
<strong>Bloomington</strong>, and to the College Mall. The service is available every day <strong>of</strong> the week, with<br />
reduced service during breaks and on holidays. The service is a fare‐free system, and<br />
includes BT buses. BT initiated its free‐to‐students initiative in 1999 and saw a marked<br />
increase in student ridership. Currently, students comprise approximately two <strong>of</strong> every<br />
three BT riders. 159<br />
Rural Transit<br />
Rural Transit is a bus service administered by the Area 10 Agency on Aging. The service is<br />
available for everyone ‐‐ regardless <strong>of</strong> age ‐‐ in Monroe, Owen, and Lawrence Counties. To<br />
travel within one county, adults pay $.75. Two‐county fare is $1.50 for adults. Senior<br />
citizens are asked to donate the full fare amount. Monthly passes are available. One‐county<br />
monthly passes are $15.00 while two‐county monthly passes are $18.00. Transfers to and<br />

This transfer agreement is key as Rural<br />
Transit provides an important connection<br />
for trips originating in <strong>Bloomington</strong><br />
bound for destinations outside city limits.<br />
<strong>Indiana</strong>polis Airport Shuttles<br />
<strong>Bloomington</strong> Shuttle and Star <strong>of</strong> <strong>Indiana</strong><br />
are private companies that provide<br />
shuttle services to the <strong>Indiana</strong>polis<br />
airport. <strong>Bloomington</strong> Shuttle picks up and<br />
drops <strong>of</strong>f passengers at four locations<br />
within <strong>Bloomington</strong>. The Star picks up and drops <strong>of</strong>f passengers at several IU campus<br />
locations.<br />
