parents recognise the many roles they can play by involving themselves in both
school and home activities. Parents can become actively involved by joining
parent bodies such as:

body of a school; and
non-statutory parent bodies which need not be legally constituted such as
parent-teacher associations or parent associations.
Participation in the above bodies is generally limited to a small percentage of the
parent community. Many parents feel that they are not able to consider elections
to such formal parent bodies and these parents may be of assistance to teachers and
principals by:

helping out with extra-{;urricular activities;
helping with the day-to-day running of the school; and
being involved in the child's learning activities at home.
