Production and economic effects of various intensity of pea cultivation<br />

The field experiments were carried out in 2005 – 2008 in Złotniki Experimental Station, near<br />

Poznań, as a completely randomized design in four replications.Investigated factors:1) water<br />

variant: - irrigated – irrigation was applied when the water content in 0 -30 cm soil layer fell to 70<br />

% of field capacity in the period of the greatest susceptibility of plants to water deficit, - non<br />

irrigated – natural water conditions; 2)cultivation technologies: - low-input – without phosphorus<br />

and potassium fertilization and chemical plant protection, - medium-input – with limited<br />

application of pesticides, phosphorus fertilization – 45 kg P 2O 5/ha, potassium fertilization – 65<br />

kg K 2O/ha, -high-input – with full plant protection, phosphorus fertilization – 60 kg P 2O 5/ha,<br />

potassium fertilization – 90 kg K 2O/ha and foliar fertilization; 3) Nitrogen fertilization: O, 30, 60,<br />

90 kg N/ha. It was stated that irrigation affected the yield of seeds interacting with cultivation<br />

technologies and nitrogen fertilization. Under irrigation conditions the medium- and high-input<br />

technologies, in comparison to low-input one, increased seed yield, respectively by 0,48 and 0,51<br />

t/ha, w<strong>here</strong>as under non irrigated conditions by 0,13 and 0,23 t/ha. Under irrigation conditions<br />

the nitrogen doses: 30, 60 and 90 kg/ha caused a significant yield increase as compared to the<br />

object without nitrogen. Under non irrigated conditions nitrogen fertilization did not differentiate<br />

significantly seed yield. In the four-years cycle of research irrigation, on the average for other<br />

factors, increased the seed yield by 1,64 t/ha (124,2 %). In both water variants the most<br />

profitable turned out the low-input cultivation technology.<br />
