Do you think it is only health staff in the hospital or health center who can deal with the<br />

problems? No! A lot can be done by volunteers and community members before even<br />

reporting to the CHO. The C-COPE tool is meant to assist community members to address<br />

these health problems that a community identifies.<br />

The C-COPE tool can also help demonstrate that some of these problems can be avoided.<br />

Let us take malaria as an example and see how it can be prevented.<br />

c. Encourage everyone – especially pregnant women and children under 5 years of age - to<br />

complete malaria treatment<br />

d. Retreat bednets with insecticide as needed<br />

e. Avoid stagnant water behind bath houses<br />

f. Cover stored water in the home.<br />
