This module looks at the work of <strong>Health</strong> Committees (HC) and their role in working with<br />

the CHO and volunteers. The committees are of two kinds – the Zonal <strong>Health</strong> Committee<br />

and the Village <strong>Health</strong> Committee. The main duties of these committees include: selecting<br />

and appointing <strong>Community</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Volunteers, supervising health volunteers, liaising<br />

between the community and the health system, ensuring the welfare of volunteers and<br />

CHOs, advocating for health, resolving conflicts among community members and the health<br />

system, mobilising to obtain and maintain CHCs, and providing security for the CHO.<br />

Module Objectives<br />

By the end of this module participants will be able to:<br />

1. Select and appoint volunteers<br />

2. Advocate for health delivery<br />

3. Solicit and manage community resources<br />

4. Supervise volunteers and resolve conflicts<br />

5. Promote the welfare of CHOs and volunteers
