Schrecker and Labonte, (2006) extended on <strong>the</strong> framework by built by Diderichsen et al.,<br />

(2001) and that of Solar and Irwin (2005) to summarize keys findings in <strong>the</strong> literature and<br />

to introduce recommendations from <strong>the</strong> Commission on Social Determinants of Health<br />

(figure III.1.4). In <strong>the</strong>ir extended version, Schrecker and Labonte (2006) focus on <strong>the</strong><br />

most important determinants, among which (i) <strong>the</strong> structural as opposed to <strong>the</strong><br />

intermediate determinants; (b) <strong>the</strong> socio-political context; and (c) levels of health<br />

inequities that need to be targeted in <strong>the</strong> first place.<br />
