Asia is not in a situation of losing its medical doctors, as well as can be seen in figure<br />

III.1.7. Scherer (2008) also shows (figure III.1.6) that <strong>the</strong> bulk of <strong>the</strong> stock of nurses and<br />

doctors comes, respectively from countries like <strong>the</strong> Philippines and India. The Philippines<br />

is a major sending country, whereas it is facing a shortage of nurses of around 6%<br />

(Padilla, 2003).<br />
