The results to be attained will contribute to a better clarification and understanding of <strong>the</strong><br />

emigration of medical doctors from <strong>the</strong>se two regions that entertain direct and indirect<br />

economic, social and cultural relationships with <strong>the</strong> EU. The gains and benefits from this<br />

research can be expected to generate:<br />

Conclusion<br />

• A conceptual framework for analyzing <strong>the</strong> trends and major determinants<br />

of <strong>the</strong> emigration of medical doctors from MENA and ECE to EU,<br />

• A set of instruments that are useful for integrating education, health care,<br />

employment and wages in <strong>the</strong> understanding of emigration patterns,<br />

• Means for fur<strong>the</strong>r integration of regional policies in MENA and ECE<br />

countries and regions,<br />

• Stronger basis for economic and social policy coordination and<br />

negotiation between EU and <strong>the</strong> two regions analyzed.<br />

This introduction shows that <strong>the</strong> needs for medical doctors have been increasing through<br />

time and countries. The implied shortages grow while accounting for new niches of<br />

health demand. This process has been leading to <strong>the</strong> acceleration of <strong>the</strong> migration of<br />
