6.5 Oxygen sensor<br />
1. Once you’ve selected the Oxygen sensor menu function, press<br />
ACCEPT. Turn the knob to display one <strong>of</strong> these messages:<br />
Calibrate O2 sensor<br />
O2 alarm info<br />
O2 sensor display<br />
2. Press ACCEPT.<br />
3. If you selected Calibrate O2 sensor, turn the knob to display one<br />
<strong>of</strong> these messages:<br />
Start O2 calibration<br />
Exit O2 calibration<br />
Once normal ventilation has begun, you cannot perform an<br />
oxygen sensor calibration until you turn <strong>of</strong>f the ventilator and<br />
restart without entering ventilation. (The ventilator must be<br />
connected to a 50-psi oxygen source to perform a calibration.)<br />
4. Turn the knob to display Start O2 calibration, then press ACCEPT.<br />
While the calibration is in progress, the message window shows<br />
this message:<br />
Start O2 calibration<br />
Please wait...<br />
Once the calibration has begun, you can only restart the<br />
calibration or exit. Oxygen sensor calibration takes<br />
approximately 5 minutes.<br />
5. When the calibration is complete press ACCEPT, turn the<br />
knob to display Exit O2 calibration, then press ACCEPT. The<br />
ventilator restarts.<br />
NOTE:<br />
If the calibration is not successful, contact service. To continue<br />
ventilating (if indicated by your institution’s protocol), disable<br />
the oxygen sensor (select O 2 alarm info from the Oxygen<br />
sensor menu function). <strong>Covidien</strong> recommends using an<br />
external oxygen monitor whenever the ventilator’s oxygen<br />
sensor is disabled.<br />
