Self tests (SST and EST)<br />

If the ventilator has already been running for more than<br />

10 minutes before you select Short self test, this message is<br />

bypassed (see step 5). If the ventilator was recently running and<br />

is already warmed up, you can press CLEAR to override the<br />

Vent warming message and begin SST. <strong>Covidien</strong> cannot<br />

guarantee the accuracy <strong>of</strong> test results in this case, however.<br />

5. The window displays this message:<br />

Is pt disconnected?<br />

ACCEPT to proceed<br />

6. Press ACCEPT to confirm that no patient is connected to the<br />

ventilator. (Or press CLEAR to back up through the menu.)<br />

The window displays this message:<br />

Block wye<br />

7. Block the patient wye and then press ACCEPT.<br />

8. The ventilator runs power-on self-test (POST) and displays this<br />

message for a few seconds:<br />

POST running...<br />

Warning<br />

If a single beep is not audible during POST, the main audible<br />

alarm may be malfunctioning. Remove the ventilator from use<br />

and contact service.<br />

NOTE:<br />

• If the ventilator is running on ac but the battery is low, upon<br />

power up it may begin ventilating using the last valid settings<br />

and an ABNORMAL RESTART alarm may occur.<br />

• During POST it is recommended that you not switch <strong>of</strong>f<br />

ventilator power.<br />

9. The message window then displays this message:<br />

Choose humidifier<br />

where the humidification device type is the most recently<br />

selected type, as follows:<br />
