Getting started<br />

Warning<br />

• To avoid raising the oxygen concentration <strong>of</strong> room air,<br />

ensure that the ventilator is in an adequately ventilated<br />

room if connected to an oxygen supply while in standby<br />

mode. Disconnect the oxygen supply if you do not intend to<br />

use the ventilator immediately.<br />

• To avoid patient injury due to lack <strong>of</strong> ventilatory support, do<br />

not enter standby mode with a patient attached to the<br />

ventilator. You must confirm that no patient is attached<br />

before entering standby mode.<br />

NOTE:<br />

To maintain battery charge(s), the ventilator must be plugged<br />

into ac power with the power switch on while in standby<br />

mode.<br />

Follow these steps to enter standby mode:<br />

1. Turn on the ventilator. If ventilation has already begun, you<br />

must turn <strong>of</strong>f the ventilator, then turn it back on without<br />

starting ventilation. This allows you access to the Standby mode<br />

menu function.<br />

2. Press MENU.<br />

3. Turn the knob to select standby mode.<br />

4. Press ACCEPT. The ventilator displays this message:<br />

Is pt disconnected?<br />

ACCEPT to proceed<br />

5. Confirm that no patient is attached by pressing ACCEPT. (If you<br />

don’t press ACCEPT while this message is displayed, the<br />

ventilator will not enter standby mode.)<br />
