you and experience it with thankfulness and without being bound by
desire. This is the message of the sages (Rishi) and seers. (7-3/4)
The Atman is a spark of the Divine. Its latent existence can be known
by inquirers. God is one. Whatever one’s nationality, whichever religion
one professes, one can realise the Universal Absolute (Brahman)
if one masters the science of spiritual advancement. Faith in the one
God is the crux, the central point. Other beliefs, concepts and conjectures
revolve as the rim, on the periphery. (7-25)
Although born in the human race, and enveloped by human environment
alas. Men have forgotten the essential qualities of the human
race. Amongst all the animals and amongst all the living things that are
born, the birth of a human being is a very unique one. To be able to
earn the gift of being born as a man is an extraordinarily difficult thing.
Having attained that gift from the hands of God and having succeeded
in being born as a man, if you do not make full use of such a gift, you
will be committing a great sin. You must realise that being born as a
man in this birth is the result of having attained and acquired the fruit
of many good deeds that you had done in several previous births. (34-

Because you have taken residence in this body, you cannot call the
body “I”. (...) The”I” in you is Atman himself. The “I” is the tiny wavelet
that plays with the wind for a moment, over the deep waters of the sea.
The wave gives you the impression that it is separate from the azure
and timeless ocean below. But it is just an appearance, a creation of
the two ideas - name and form. Get rid of the two ideas and the wave
disappears in the sea; its reality flashes upon you and you know.
Atman reveals its glory as love in man; love appears in various forms:
attaching itself to riches, parents, children, one's life-mate or friends.
All these are sparks of the same flame and the love of the Universal is
its highest expression. This love cannot be cultivate by reading guidebooks
and made-easies and learning the steps by rote. It has to begin
with a great yearning for the light, an unbearable agony to escape from
the darkness, as in the prayer, - “From darkness lead me into light”
(tamaso ma jyotir gamaya). The yearning itself will draw down the light.
The love will grow of itself and by its slow and inevitable alchemy turn
you into Gold. (...)
Once you take on the name of the Lord which is sweetness itself, it will
