country is described as the mother. Nature is compared to a mother.
If you fall down and experience pain, you cry out: "Amma", you do not
cry out: "Appa”. In all these situations, in our symbolism of the mother,
there is a very distinctive and special position for women. A women
can take a person to the heights of glory or drag him to the depths of
degradation. (...)
When you hear the name of God, then you certainly have a great attraction
to that name. But when the same God, takes a human form,
you begin to have doubts. The changes that come about in a form, a
natural characteristic of all creation are responsible for these doubts.
All you see around you is the creation of nature. It is simply a manifestation
of creation, called nature. There is a great deal of weakness in
this creation and the source for such weakness is in the creation itself.
Wherever there is a weakness in an individual, it is simply in the form
of a women. In this world, which is like a stage, men and women are
merely actors playing their roles. However, simply because one takes
the part of a man or of a women in a play, one cannot conclude that
some are men and some are women. (...)
To be able to get a vision of God, you should throw away these human
weaknesses, like being short-tempered, hungry or angry. Particularly,
you young people should be able to control your anger, hatred, jealousy
and lust. (37-34/36)
For the adventure of spiritual wisdom, all are candidates, women as
well as men. Sex is but a vesture worn by the soul for the role of life
on earth. It does not affect the life of the spirit which is eternal and on
the supra-sensory plane. Men and women have each to purify the inner
consciousness so that the Divine may reveal itself in all its glory.
Married life will not bar your way to realization. Look upon the wife ore
husband and children as a sacred trust, and serve them in that spirit.
Prepare yourselves for a celibate and spiritual discipline from the age
of fifty. (27-81/82)
Today I shall speak to the women. Many of you become so desperate
and dejected that you bemoan your birth and welcome death. This is
very wrong. You cannot flee from your responsibility in the middle of
your allotted task. It is a sign of weakness and cowardice. After all, just
think for a moment whether the rich are happy, the strong are happy,
the highly educated are happy or the clever are happy. No one is happy
you will find. If you must be happy, one of two things must happen.
