less a man and more and more a demon. Spiritual science alone can
cure him and save the world. But man prefers the short cut, the more
comfortable and attractive material path, and he suffers in despair,
fear and hatred. Egoism is the root and crown of all evil thoughts and
tendencies. Humility towards all else and reverence to those whom
you serve - these alone can elevate man to man hood. (...)
Our country, or any other country for that matter, can be saved today
not by political manipulations or military alliances, but only through the
development of the consciousness in each one, of his inherent Divinity.
Instead of trying to “investigate” the whole universe, man should try
to probe into his own inner world and, removing the junk therein,
should set at rest the evil urges that raise their heads within. World
peace and prosperity can be accomplished only by such explorers and
pioneers. Education and the intellect are not so essential for this adventure.

Jesus Christ lived for five years in the Himalaya region of India. He settled
in Kashmir and met many exponents and practitioners of non-dualism,
which declares that there is only one God. He realized the oneness
beneath all diversity, and then he spread the truth that “I and my
father are one”.
Today sons and daughters of India, where the lesson of oneness was
first taught, go to Western countries and propagate “the many”; Westerners
come to India from cultures hailing diversity, to learn and propagate
“the one”. It is a complete turn-around! You have to accept the
value and practice the teachings of the great men whom you revere.

Cities have today become like turbulent seas, whose residents move
in tossing boats surrounded by darkness. For these desperate people
the shining spiritual ideal, is the only guide to safety. The countryside
is fast getting tainted by city culture and distress is spreading everywhere.
This is the spirit of the times. Entangled in this spirit, man accumulates
all types of desires in his mind which, when not fulfilled,
make him desperate and end his life in unspeakable distress. Man forgets
that his innermost desire, which he should cherish, is the desire
for good and for God. All other desires are base and meaningless. Man
has been endowed with the power of discrimination between the essentially
good and the superficially pleasant, but he does not cultivate
