When such tests come from God, they come in order to shower grace
and not to trouble the devotee. It is not possible for all persons to understand
and comprehend God's strength. One who understands
Brahman becomes identical with Brahman himself. (...)
Brahman has no form. Brahman has no qualities. Brahman has only a
name and is like a mirror which reflects form. If you go and stand in
front of a clean mirror, what you see is a reflection of yourselves and
in this context you have to ask whether the image you see is simply a
reflection of yourselves or whether it is a part of the mirror. This clean
mirror is only reflecting the image of yourself but your image is not already
present in the mirror. The bad and the good that are present in
you are reflected. God has neither good qualities nor bad qualities.
When you stand in front of mirror, your own image is reflected. If you
do good, it is reflected as good and if you do bad, it is reflected back
as bad. (36-102/106)
Strength arising from one’s own righteous conduct is the only meaningful
strength. Without having any attachment to work and without
swerving from the Divine path, if you do all work in the name of God,
then God will always be with you in good and in bad, in happiness and
in sorrow. He will be the witness and a constant companion to you. (36-
126)
If man lives properly as a human being it will be occasionally possible
for him to turn towards the Divine but if man does not live as man, it
will not be possible for him to even occasionally think of the Divine. It
is only when man makes an attempt to know who he is can he understand
the Divine. Only then is there a chance for him to enter the Atman
and enjoy bliss and happiness. (36-134)
A bubble of water is born out of water, it is made up of water, it ultimately
mixes with water and disappears. As in this analogy, man is like
a bubble and God is like the source water. Man is born out of God, is
made up of him and ultimately merges with him. What else can I tell
you? This is the simple and elemental truth. (...)
Like the water, the waves and the foam which are all inseparably connected
with each other, the three aspects, the spiritual aspect, the
worldly aspect and the Divine aspect, are inseparably connected with
each other. (37-75/76)
The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes but in liking what
