ow, hence, the source of the Divine confers the steadiest peace, and
with it holiness and happiness. (3-3/4)
Bliss is the innate nature of man, but he is searching for it everywhere
except where it is available. Bliss is not something lifeless and inactive.
It is another name for purposeful living. Peace is the authority under
which the rule of bliss prevails. It lays down the limits and laws for all
activities. It must be made so stable that it is unaffected by the everwandering
mind or the outward-bound senses. It can only be experienced,
personally, through the natural state of self-realization. It is the
most precious treasure. He who grasps that which is deathless, that
which cannot be destroyed, that which is not modified, he is the enjoyer
of peace. He too has no death. (3-5/6)
Peace is a shoreless ocean: it is the light that illumines the world. Having
it, is having all. It confers knowledge of both this world and that. It
“He whom he chooses, gets it". But the devotee may doubt: "What then
is the need for spiritual discipline?” He who thinks of the Lord with devotion
can overcome any type of karma, inherited or accumulated action.
With His grace, he can experience even unattainable bliss. Do not
doubt the usefulness of spiritual discipline; it can never be fruitless, no,
for any one. Hold firm to that conviction. Unshaken devotion to God will
win the grace of the Lord. (3-10/11)
Each is born for some task, but, all can exist only on the self-same food
and drink, peace; for without it there is no bliss. Peace embellishes
every act; it softens the hardest core of man; it takes you to the footstool
of the Lord and wins for you the vision of God. It knows no distinction;
it is a force that establishes equality. It is the honey of love in
the enchanting flower of Life. It is a prime need for the yogi and the
