attempt to have this ladder consisting of two sides and the steps, prosperity
and desire, supported on the earth which we have called nature
or Divne order. You want to climb up and reach the exalted position of
liberation. Support is the earth; destination is liberation; the earth
which is the support is like your conduct. It is only when you take the
support and your destination, Divine order and liberation, as your primary
objectives, the two intermediary steps - prosperity and desire, will
be meaningful and will have some significance to you. But if you neglect
Divine order and liberation, the basis and the goal, then prosperity
and desire will become useless.
Every individual, who is born on this earth, should understand the nature
and the meaning of this world. Divine order upholds the entire creation
and you should also follow righteousness in your conduct. (...)
When you try to understand the teaching of your sacred text, you will
learn that OM is the one thing which is the same as Brahman, God.
God is one and only one and there is no second to that one. When you
think of your great seers and the great sayings which have been taught
by them, you will realize that the entire world is one in which there is
non dualism. It is just one and only one. Even though those who follow
the dualistic philosophy do not accept and agree with the truth of nondualism,
the philosophy of non-dualism does not suffer from any special
drawback. Some day or other, when proper enquiry has been
made, the dualistic philosophers as well as everyone else, whether he
is a believer or non-believer, whether he is a yogi or steeped in earthly
wealth and pleasures, no matter who he is he will have to accept nondualism
as the truest philosophy. When you go deep and make proper
enquiries about the world, you will realize that it is one, there is no duality
and non-duality one will make itself evident to you ultimately in this
world. The appearance of plurality is something which is only a reflection
of your own illusion. This is also referred to as ignorance. Differences,
distinctions and plurality have all started from oneness. They
have not started from the basis of plurality. (...)
Brahman assumes the form of one who has attributes and comes into
this world and resides in every being, in everything that you see
around you in this world. It is not possible to get hold of him separately
with your eyes, it is not possible to get hold of him separately with your
hands, but it is only possible to recognize him by experiencing him in
the state of the world. You cannot do anything more with your gross
body than experience Brahman, God, who is omnipresent and all pervading.
