How can you describe the great good fortune of people that are born
in India? God in human form is being born in this country again and
again and he is teaching Divinity and the Divine aspects to the people
who live in this country. He has been treating them like his friends and
relations. Do you not feel this truth around you? 1977, (37-223)
The citizens of India are worshipping Avatars like Rama, Krishna in the
faith that God is born in human form in this world when such an Avatar
appears. They have not understood that Rama, Krishna and Avatars
like that are only ideal examples of human individuals. Such Divine
people who are born in the community constitute ideal examples of human
beings and the moment you learn to practice what they demonstrate,
you should have learnt and understood them. A weak person
who is not in a position to understand even human nature and human
aspects, how is he going to understand the aspects of Divine nature?
It is only when you can understand Rama, Krishna, etc., as ideal human
examples, can you elevate them to the position of Divine Avatars.
Today, you are worshipping such Avatars in the form of idols and photographs
both you are not following the ideals they gave you. As you
have learnt to accept that the Avatar and the Godhead are identical,
so also you should accept that the ideals they have set for you should
be practiced. Unfortunately, today you are addressing an Avatar as
God. You keep on repeating the word “God” and you worship him, but
you do not accept his commands and his statements. You simply keep
them aside. That kind of worship, which is not accompanied by practice,
should be regarded as mere exhibitionism and not devotion.

Avatars seldom give advice directly. Whatever they wish to communicate,
they convey more often by way of indirect suggestions and only
rarely by the direct method of instruction. The reason for this is there
is Divinity inherent spontaneously if favourable conditions are provided;
as a viable seed will germinate and grow into a tree, if suitable facilities
are provided for the manifestation of its potentiality. Man should
be enabled to correct himself by his own efforts, not by merely being,
given timely suggestions, rather than by stultifying his freedom and
