The Duty of Mankind and Nations
As each individual is a unique entity, so, each nation too has a unique
individuality. Each person is different from others and is endowed with
special characteristics which are his own. So too, each nation has special
features not found in others. Each individual has to play a role as
part of the system; his own previous karma or activity has determined
a special line or path for him. The history of nations too is the same.
Each has to play a role already laid down by its destiny. Each nation
has to deliver a special message of its own to the world community.

This day the principles and practices laid down in Bharathiya culture
and the attitudes and feelings enshrined in it, are not lying low within
the boundaries of this subcontinent. Whether they like it or not, they
cross over to other lands and establish themselves there. The main
ideas, the essential outlooks, penetrate the literature of those peoples
and permeate their thought processes. In some lands, among some
peoples, they have won even dominant roles, with no opposition. For,
India is offers as its contribution to the peace and prosperity of the
World, an invaluable body of spiritual wisdom. This contribution is
more elevating than that from any other country. It is more necessary,
basic and precious; this fact is becoming clearer to all mankind. (5-28/

There are two things which are important for man’s life. One is confidence
in one’s own self and the other is cleansing one’s own mind.
Man cannot live by himself in isolation. The entire world depends upon
the social structure and on the manner in which individuals are knit together
into a society. (35-45)
The prosperity of a nation does not descend from the sky nor does it
emerge of its own accord from the earth. It depends upon the conduct
of the people that constitute the nation. You should recognize that the
country does not mean just the lifeless soil around us. The country
consists of a conglomeration of people and it is what they make of it.
To rectify the world and put it on the proper path, you have to first rectify
yourselves and your conduct. If at on advanced age, you try and
control your desires and senses, you may or may not win God’s grace.
