can benefit in the end. You have not yet started spiritual discipline and
still you demand peace; you demand grace. How is it possible? Start!
Then, everything will be added unto you. God gives you whatever you
pray for; so, take care. Ask for the right things. (...) So, think well, discriminate
clearly before you ask, before you pray.
I know how systematic you all are in eating and drinking. You take pretty
good care of the body. I do not condemn it; I only want you to take
equally good care of the needs of the spirit. Take a dose of meditation
and recitation of God’s names as morning breakfast, worship and devotion
as lunch at noon, some good company or studies of sacred literature,
or remembering of the names of God as afternoon tea and
snacks, an hour of group singing as dinner and a small ten-minute
meditation as the cup of milk before going to bed; that diet is enough
to keep your inner being happy and healthy. That is my advice to you

Some say knowledge is power, but it is not true. Character is power.
Even the acquisition of knowledge demands a good character. So,
every one must yearn to attain flawless character, without any trace of
evil.
Note that Buddha, Jesus Christ, Shankara and Vivekananda, great
sages and saints and devotees of the Lord, all these are treasured in
the memory of man even unto this day. What quality made them all
memorable for all time? I say, it is the character of each one of them.
Without character, wealth, education and social status are of no avail.
It is the fragrance of the flower; that gives it value and worth. (...)
Among the qualities that make up a flawless character, love, patience,
forbearance, steadfastness and charity - are the highest and have to
be revered. (4-1/2)
There is one secret which if known lays bare all secrets; if that problem
is solved, all are solved, there is one knot which if untied, all knots are
loosened. There is one science, which if mastered, all are mastered.
That key is spiritual wisdom. (4-22)
Permanent happiness can be secured only through one education, the
Upanishad education; that is the science of God-realization, the teaching
of the Rishis. That alone can save man and grant him peace. There
is nothing higher than; this is an indisputable fact. Whatever your joy
and sorrow, whatever the subjects you have specialized in for a living,
