do not know the correct meaning of words and you are ignorant of the
aspect of Brahman, then you begin to give a misrepresentation. (...)
Today, the tendency to make comparisons between various things has
increased. A very bad quality, by which you present the faults of others,
is becoming widespread. If you can get rid of these two things,
then it will be possible for you to understand this aspect of Brahman
wisdom. What you are experiencing usually relates only to the material
world around you. It is necessary for you to interpret and see what the
subtlety that is contained in your experience. (...)
Today every human being is gets into trouble with both of these illusions.
He is unable to recognize the truth that in the very individual
there is the community aspect as well. The individual aspect of a human
being has become permanently fixed in his mind. (...)
Frequently you recognize each body and its form separately and the
common Divine content is not seen by anyone. You are only looking
at different bodies and forms in an external way, but the real connection
and comparison between one and another is through the Atman.

This human birth has come to you with the purpose of establishing in
the world the oneness that exists in all Creation. The nature of this oneness
can be recognized by promoting two qualities, consistency and
non-attachment. (...)
When you do not know the nature of yourself, how are you going to
know the nature of the world? The aspect of Divine creation is spread
and present all through the world. The life force in this world and the
life force that exists in you are inseparable aspects of one and the
same Divine aspect. Although air is present everywhere around you,
yet you do not see it. So also, this life force, though present in the
whole world, can be recognized only in some places and by some human
beings. (37-197/203)
The only ray of hope in this fog of violence, cruelty of enforced conformity,
hatred and persecution, is the peace that one can win through
self-control and spiritual discipline. That peace will pervade and purify
the inner consciousness as well as the outer atmosphere. Spiritual discipline
is the life-breath of man; struggle for power, self and pomp is
but the breath of poison. Poor silly man craves for the air that will destroy
him, the food that will torment him and the drink that will defile
him! He revels in ruining his nature and denying his excellence! That
is the tragedy of civilisation.
