Brahman is not in him. In the heart and centre of every living, God exists,
minuter than the minutest molecule, larger than the largest conceivable
object, smaller than the smallest, greater than the greatest.
Therefore, the wise man who has had a vision of the Atman in him will
never suffer sorrow. (...)
The devotee has to direct his attention away from the external world
and look inwards; he has to turn his vision towards the Atman. He must
analyse the process of his mind and discover for himself where its
modifications and agitations originate. By this means, every trace of
“intention” and “will” disappears. Afterwards, the only idea that will get
fixed in the mind will be the idea of God. The only feeling which will occupy
the mind will be the feeling of bliss (...)
Such a devotee will be unaffected by joy or grief, for he will be fully immersed
in the ocean of Divine bliss, above and beyond the reach of
worldly things. (...)
The sage gets full bliss from his own Atman; he does not seek it anywhere
become the highest”. (...)
All bubbles are but the same water; so also, all the multiplicity of name
and form, all this created world, are but the same Brahman. This is the
fixed conviction of the sage, nay, his genuine experience. As all rivers
flow into the sea and get lost, so also all desires get lost in the effulgent
consciousness of the realized soul. (14-7/12)
Keeping such sacred duties and obligations of man in view, the sacred
texts have established four goals of life, which are: righteousness
(dharma), prosperity (artha), desire (kama) and liberation (moksha).
Almost every experienced and learned scholar will tell us that of these
four goals, the most important aim of your life, the ultimate goal is liberation.
Ask yourselves the question: “If liberation is the supreme and
ultimate objective, why mention prosperity and desire also?” It is not
as if there is no meaning for these two words prosperity and desire.
Liberation is the highest, exalted goal. That is your destination. In order
to reach it you need a ladder to help you in the process. This ladder,
which consists of various steps, must also have some support. This
support is the earth, sometimes called nature. Thus you are making an
