education has to teach man how to tap this spring of joy and light. If
this task is not undertaken by schools and colleges, it should be performed
by parents and elders and all who are keen to prevent this devaluation.
18.12.66, (19-309/313)
Brahman is that which has become or appears to have become all this,
the inner motive force. The aspect without attributes (nirguna) is the
primal cause, the Hiranyagarbha of which creation is the manifestation.
Grasping this secret of the universe and its origin and existence
- that is wisdom. (...)
It might be said that Brahman has form while wisdom is formless; but
both are formless in the real sense of the word. The apparent form of
Brahman is the result of ignorance; form is attributed to Brahman only
to serve the needs of the embodied souls during the period of the embodiment.
The absolute is reduced to the level of the conditioned, because
the soul too is conditioned by the body. Not to know that this human
interlude is but the conditioned state of the Atman is to be reduced
to the dullness of the beast. (14-27/29)
For the creation of this entire world, the main roots are sounds. If there
is no sound, there is no world. If there is no sound, there is no creation.
Thus, if the young people who belong to the modern world raise a succession
of questions like: “Where is God? Is there God? Where is he
to be seen?” I get the feeling that they are only displaying a large
amount of ignorance. Does this young man ask a question like that not
realize that the answer to his question is contained in the question itself?
What is the question? The question is: “Is there God or is there
no God?” The fact that the word God is contained in the question
asked, namely “is there God?” is proof that there is God. If there is no
God, then the word “God” would not have come into existence. Can
any of you give a name of something which does not exist? 1972, (34-
86)
Man is not offering anything of his own, except when he is offering his
devotion arising from his heart. God takes care of that devotee who
completely surrenders himself with single-minded devotion at the lotus
foot of the Lord. If one is intoxicated with Divine love and forgets all
worldly responsibilities, God will take upon himself all the responsibilities
of that devotee. 1972, (34-220/221)
