and teachers have been originating in this land. From India arose seers,
selfless yogis, wise men, realized souls, and Divine personages
connected with this religion. It is through these persons that spiritual
wisdom, reinforced by experience, flowed throughout the country. In
this way right conduct progressed throughout the world. But, to whatever
land it spread, the “original home” is India itself. (4-34/35)
Nothing can be done without that base. The eternal spring of religion
arose in India and people of other countries benefited from its waters
through great personages and the books they wrote. The base of the
original home cannot be ignored. But it is a matter of some concern to
see today, in India, the birthplace of holy persons who nursed and fostered
this sacred right conduct, new modes being accepted as right
conduct. The eternal ancient religion itself is kept aside for people of
other countries, people who have not even tasted the sweetness of
righteousness, who have not grasped its meaning, and who have
smothered it in empty disputation. (...)
No other conduct has or will have Truth and highest love, above and
beyond that contained in the eternal ancient religion. It is the veritable
embodiment of Truth. It is the heritage of all. There can be no boundary
for holiness. Holiness is one, without a second.
Those who have attained liberation in this life by adherence to this
eternal religion, who have earned the grace of God, who have understood
the nature of truth, who have achieved realization are all Indians.
They have adored those who have reached that holy stage, without
distinction of caste, creed, or sex. The holiness of that stage reduces
to ashes all such limitations. It is only when that stage is reached that
it becomes possible to consider everything as equal. So, it is necessary
to embark boldly on the realization of the eternal ancient religion.
This is the birthright of Indians.
If you examine history since its very beginnings, you can know in detail
what great personages were born, in which sections of the Hindus. Incarnations,
Divine personalities like Rama, Krishna, Janaka and Yogis
like Viswamitra, (...) great pandits, sastric scholars, Veda Rishis, originated
in the Brahman section. (4-36/37)
If you cannot love and respect the one God who has given you life,
your existence, and by whose strength you live, you cannot reach or
comprehend Truth. God is the agent of everything that you see around
you and for you to think that man is the agent and that man is respon-
