cial uniqueness of duty, and nature. Each has its own distinctive style!
Action rules groups and individuals. (...)
Similarly, man has some natural characteristics that are his very lifebreath.
They are also called abilities. He can be identified as “man”
only so long as these abilities are found in him. If they are lost, he is
no longer a “man”. To preserve and foster such qualities and abilities,
certain codes of behaviour and lines of thought are laid down. Your
own special uniqueness of duty (dharma) will not decline if these are
kept up. Your duty is not imported from somewhere outside, nor can it
be removed. It is your own genuine nature, your uniqueness. It is the
thing which makes a man out of an animal. How to observe right conduct?
Krishna replied: “Those who seek me are of four types. One is always
worn out by ills that affect the body. Another is worried by the struggle
for prosperity, power, self, property, posterity, etc. A third yearns for
between the higher self, the Atman, and the lower self, and thus
helped to achieve the goal. I bless him so that he is saved from distractions
My task is to give to each what he asks.” (2-69/79)
There are two channels of subtle energy (nadi), ida and pingala by
name, subtle nerves; ida to the left and pingala to the right of the main
channel (sushumna). Ida is the lunar path and the pingala is the solar
path. The yogis proceed along the solar and the others along the lunar
path. This is another of the unobserved mysteries. (...)
There is no need to doubt whether such a stage is within the reach of
