only at God’s will and pleasure. The person who realises this truth can
be said to be one who is not a materialist. In some cities, there is a
shortage of drinking water and scientists are trying to convert the saltish
ocean water into drinking water.
They may be partially successful in this attempt, but where will they get
the drinking water from if the ocean water, which is the source, is not
available? In all cases, the original substance source is God given and
no scientist can create it. No matter how high a position and capacity
a scientist may have achieved in his profession, he can have no connection
with things beyond the five elemental substances: earth, water,
fire, air and space. God is behind the curtain and beyond these five
elements. God exhibits his powers outside the region of these five elements.
Man operates within the region of these five elements. So
long as the intimate connection, as you know it in your daily lives, exists
between man and the five elements, man cannot understand the
true significance of Divinity. (35-24/25)
Today, people only see the consequences of the existence of Divine
power and argue that there is no Divine power and say that there is no
basis for what they see. This statement is like saying that in the ocean
there are waves because I see the waves, but that there is no water.
They are unable to recognize the basic truth that is contained in our
ancient Veda statements. If you examine them carefully, it will then become
possible and quite easy for you to see the oneness of Divinity.
What we have to establish today is nor a new society, nor a new religion
or new organization. What we have to do is to recognize the contents
of what we have already had in ancient times and bring them up
to date. Young people, capable of making sacrifices, are essential today.
Not only this, we urgently need courageous young people who
can proclaim to the world the omnipresence of Divinity. It is necessary
to have young people who can face and fight with courage situations
arising from injustice, unkindness and cruelty. It is necessary to have
young people who will not depend only upon worldly and material benefits,
but will give sufficient importance to ethical and spiritual aspects;
young people who are prepared to give up imitation, give up selfish
ideas and be able to serve the community in a selfless manner. Young
people, who can, by their own experience, proclaim and tell others that
Atman is the most important thing.
The Divinity that is present in everyone is one and the same. Divinity
is not present only in Sathya Sai Baba. You are all Divine. Divinity is
