and discrimination leads to God. Those who have not trodden that and
those who are not aware of its existence cannot explain it to themselves
or to others.
God alone is real. God is truth, God is love. Meditate on him as truth,
as love. It is possible to realize him, in whatever form you meditate upon.
Be always in the company of his devotees. Through this discrimination
and detachment will develop. These will strengthen the spirit
and endow you with inner peace. Your mind will then merge in God.
In everything that you do, use all the strength and talent with which you
are endowed, speaking and acting truthfully. At first, you might fail in
this and you might encounter difficulties and sufferings. But, ultimately,
you are bound to succeed and achieve victory and bliss. (4-14)
The eternal ancient religion is the mother of all religions, all ethical
codes and all right conduct of this world; and India is the home where
the mother was born.
On account of this it can be declared without doubt that the improvement
attained by the Indians has not been acquired by the people of
any other country. The eternal ancient religion, which teaches the truth
of all religions and tolerance of all religions, is the right conduct for all
mankind. Born in various areas, flowing through various paths, the rivers
at last reach the ocean; so too, born in different lands, practising
different ways of righteousness, people reach the ocean of the presence
of the Lord, through different modes of worship. The eternal ancient
religion is the central point at which all these various paths converge.
Followers of different religions can practice this Divine
discipline, being truthful in speech, avoiding jealousy and anger, and
acting with a loving heart. (...)
The Hindu religion is the only religion that has achieved and maintained
the foremost position among all religions from earliest times.
The only people who have survived without being destroyed, throughout
the ages, are the Hindus. In this religion, more than any other, people
have practiced lives of love, equality and gratitude. The Hindus
have learned their code of conduct through the discovery of philosophic
principles and the Vedas. They have drunk deep the eternal essence
of the Vedas. A land so holy is a spiritual mine to the rest of the
world. Just as the bowels of the earth reveal in mines of different metals,
India has found the mine of right conduct, the essence of the principles
of the sacred texts of the Vedas. Along with the emergence of
