This giant display is at the back of the lobby, set between the doors leading to the auditorium.
The wall is built of brown ash verticals. The display is lighted from below, and the
marble base is lined with potted tropical plants.
For variation, the display case adjacent to the
refreshment stand is made of stained white oak
with overhead fluorescent lighting.
THE
USE OF LEATHER CAN PROVIDE SOME ELEGANT EFFECTS
In the remodeling of the old Karlton Theatre into
the new Midtown in Philadelphia, leather and leatherette
was extensively used for wall treatments and decorative
touches. Below is the ladies' powder room, showing how
leatherette squares were used effectively for wall
covering.
Simulated leather padding is used to upholster these doors
leading into the foyer of the Midtown Theatre. Smart accenting is
provided by the contrasting square panels set into these doors.
Traffic is controlled by the use of handles on only one set of doors.
