Otto Swcmson Elected
As Renwick Co. Head
RENWICK, IOWA—Officers of the Renwick
Amusement Co., operator of the Ren Theatre,
have been elected. They are Otto Swanson,
president; Thomas Gimer, vice-president; L.
W. Heetland, secretary, and Raymond Gorrell,
treasurer. The following directors were
elected: Dr. W. H. Long and Dr. N. R.
Yarbrough, each to serve one year; Dale
Cole, M. M. Green and A. H. Goettsch, to
serve for two years.
Officers and directors were named at the
first annual meeting of the stockholders. The
theatre has just reopened under the management
of Jeanette Darland. A temporary
board of directors had been serving while arrangements
to reopen the theatre were being
made.
Scheinosts Buy in Lyman
LYMAN, NEB.—The Lyman Theatre reopened
with a Saturday afternoon free show
following its purchase by Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Scheinost. They spent a week getting
the house ready for reopening. The new
owners will live in an apartment in the theatre
building and plan to exhibit every evening
except Tuesdays at 7 p. m., with a Sunday
matinee at 2:30. All program changes
will be for two nights.

Suit Over Bank Night Award
EMMETSBURG, IOWA—Claiming to have
won a bank night award of $200 which was
not awarded to her, Mrs. Robert Schossow
has brought suit for that amount against the
Iowa Theatre manager here. Mrs. Schossow
testified in district court here she was present
the first night of a drawing, making her
eligible for the second night's drawing at
which her name was called but at which she
was not present. Her attorney argued before
Judge Fred Hudson that the theatre assumed
the contract to pay Mrs. Schossow, but Bob
Davis, theatre manager denied any such contract.
The case has been taken under advisement
by the judge.
New Projection Installed
SWEA CITY, IOWA—Modernization of the
theatre here has been completed by Milo
Svendsen, manager, with the installation of
new projectors. Earlier improvements include
a new sound system and the addition of restrooms.
Exhibitor Ben Hill
Stricken
MEADOWLANDS. MINN.—Ben Hill,
owner
and operator of the theatre here the last
three years, died from a heart attack. A
widow and son survive and will operate the
showhouse.
Motion picture studio equipment in France
is in rather poor condition owing to the financial
situation of most of the studios.

7 at the Standard club. Roger Kent
and his orchestra have been engaged to plaj

be $4 per person, and chairman Milt Feinberg
urges everyone to attend and enjoy the

William Porter, auditor, was at Monogram
. . . Shirley Shoafstall, former NSS employe,
is the mother of a baby daughter . . . Roy
Hauser, son of MGM shipper Chet Hauser,
is new NSS shipper . . . Ilene Perin, Paramount,
spent the weekend in Waterloo.
The good wishes of Filmrow go with Elmer
Van Buren, former NSS shipper, as he leaves
for army duty. Dorothy, his wife, will keep
the home fires burning and continue her
work as booking stenographer at Paramount
during Van's absence . . . Al Altshuler, Columbia
salesman, is in California on a twoweek
leave of absence . . . Ida May Sandberg
is a temporary inspector for MGM . . .
Mable Magnusson. Universal manager's secretary,
journeyed to Minburn to spend Thanksgiving
day with her mother.
Fern Bitting, Warner inspector, is back on
the job after an illness of several days . .
Mildred Holden, Universal cashier, cooked
turkey for her family reunion which included
a visit from her daughter who attends school
in Sioux City . Levy, Universal manager,
visited in Dubuque . . . The sneak preview
of "Bright Victory" was held Monday
night and Levy expects big things from the
Universal picture.
