As far as maize is concerned, production has grown to 43.5%
between the two census counts, while the harvested area
was reduced to 11.9%. Soybean production increased to
29.4%, and held in 1995/96 almost the same area harvested
in 1985. For rice, an internal market product, although
produced quantity has suffered a decline of approximately
10%, the harvested area has lowered to two thirds of that
seen in 1985.
