idized-bed gasifier will be the basis of the Piñon Pine project. This<br />

gasifier, operating in the air-blown mode, <strong>and</strong> coupled with hot gas<br />

cleanup (HGCU) will provide a low heating value fuel gas to power the<br />

combustion turbine. High temperature exhaust from the combustion<br />

turbine will then supply the energy required to generate steam in a<br />

heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) for use in a steam turbine. Both<br />

the combustion turbine <strong>and</strong> the steam turbine will drive generators to<br />

supply approximately 100 MW (net) of power to the electric grid.<br />

The objectives of the Piñon Pine Power Project are to meet the<br />

power needs of the SPPCo’s customers <strong>and</strong> to demonstrate the techni-
