Appendix C-2
Material Chart
The information provided in the following tables is excerpted
from the United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney Alloy Reference
List.
This list is a compilation of the specification condition and form,
nominal chemistry, coefficient of expansion and density of gas turbine
alloys listed by AMS, PWA specification and AISI, AA or brand
name.
Each AMS and PWA specification number is immediately followed
by the form(s) in which the material is supplied (a nomenclature
key is provided in Table C-2.1).
The specification condition in the SPEC. COND. column refers
to the condition in which the material is received by the purchaser (a
nomenclature key is provided in Table C-2.2).
The alloy chemistry percentages are listed on top in the row
for each alloy. The “R” indicates that the remainder of the chemical
composition is made up of that element.
The coefficients of expansion (micro in./in./°F) are listed on the
bottom in the row for each alloy. The temperatures pertaining to the
coefficient of expansion is listed below the element name.
Example: Incoloy 901 (page 303)
AMS 5660 and 5661 (B=Bar, F= Forging)//PWA Spec 1003 (Bar, Forging),
1022 (Forging), 1024 (Forging)//SPEC COND.: SSP=Solution,
Stabilization and Precipitation Heat Treated; SP= Solution and Precipitation
Heat Treated//Considering the column under Ni=Nickel:
42.5% is nickel, and the coefficient of expansion at 200°F is 7.75.
