589 This paper focuses on the last two systems presented in Table 1.1. These systems are considered stateof-the-art and here are some of their specific characteristics that make them distinguish from the others. 2. DIGITAL SYSTEMS FOR STRUCTURAL MONITORING Today, the structural monitoring can be achieved using only digital systems. These systems have some specific technical characteristics that must cover the needs of such monitoring/analysis. Next we will analyze those characteristics that are important for this application. 2.1 Resolution The resolution of the AID converter is an important parameter for digital systems.
