MANTRA has been enlisted as a<br />
consultant by Gujarat Energy Development<br />
Agency (GEDA) and as an Energy Auditor<br />
by Chief Electrical Inspector, Gujarat to<br />
conduct mandatory energy audit <strong>of</strong> industrial<br />
units. During the period April-December<br />
2011, Energy Audit <strong>of</strong> 15 units was<br />
carried out.<br />
Valuation Certificates and other<br />
certification services are rendered<br />
and during the period under review 14<br />
certificates have been issued.<br />
Technical <strong>Textiles</strong><br />
MANTRA has been designated as Centre<br />
<strong>of</strong> Excellence in Technical <strong>Textiles</strong> for<br />
coating & lamination by the Government<br />
<strong>of</strong> Gujarat and as Centre <strong>of</strong> Excellence<br />
in Agrotech by the Government <strong>of</strong> India,<br />
along with Navsari Agriculture University<br />
(NAU), Navsari and IIT Delhi as knowledge<br />
partners. MANTRA has a well-equipped<br />
Technical <strong>Textiles</strong> Lab in which a total <strong>of</strong><br />
30 samples have been tested during the<br />
period under review.<br />
MANTRA has conducted classes on<br />
Technical <strong>Textiles</strong> at STERS.<br />
Under the Government <strong>of</strong> Gujarat grant,<br />
MANTRA is going to install pilot plant<br />
facilities for Non-woven production i.e.<br />
Spunlace, Spun bond, and needle punch<br />
in 2011-2012.<br />
Powerloom Service Centre (PSC)<br />
Two PSCs, one at Pandesara and the<br />
other at Sachin, are functioning under the<br />
management <strong>of</strong> MANTRA. Both centres<br />
are extending testing and consultancy<br />
services to the weaving industries located<br />
in their respective clusters. The regular<br />
activity <strong>of</strong> these centres is to impart<br />
training to weavers. During the period April<br />
to December, 2011, 412 and 418 weavers<br />
have been trained under the Refresher<br />
Training Programme at PSC Sachin and<br />
PSC Pandesara, respectively.<br />
Dissemination <strong>of</strong> Information<br />
MANTRA’s dissemination <strong>of</strong> information<br />
activities include:<br />
= Publication <strong>of</strong> in-house monthly<br />
magazine ‘MANTRA TEXTILE<br />
MAGAZINE’ which covers articles,<br />
news and information on <strong>textiles</strong> and<br />
technical <strong>textiles</strong>.<br />
= A one-day seminar on ‘Development<br />
<strong>of</strong> value-added products from<br />
banana pseudostem’ was organized<br />
by MANTRA in association with<br />
Navsari Agriculture University, J.K.<br />
Paper Mills and CIRCOT on 24 th May,<br />
2011.<br />
= A two-day international seminar on<br />
Man-Made <strong>Textiles</strong> was organized<br />
at IIM, Ahmedabad by MANTRA, in<br />
association with Fibre 2 Fashion,<br />
SGCI, Surat and SASCMA, Surat on<br />
18 th & 19 th November,2011.<br />
= Besides publication <strong>of</strong> articles in the<br />
in-house magazine, MANTRA is also<br />
publishing articles in other journals,<br />
three papers have been published<br />
and two papers have been sent for<br />
publication.<br />
