activities have been executed by the<br />
Centre during the year:<br />
1. Conducting Awareness programmes<br />
in various agricultural hubs <strong>of</strong> the<br />
country. Three programmes had been<br />
conducted as excerpted in the seminar<br />
conducted section. Participated in<br />
National and international exhibition<br />
held.<br />
2. Establishing facilities for testing,<br />
information sourcing, training and<br />
demonstration for the centre:<br />
= SASMIRA’s testing services has<br />
been accredited by the National<br />
Accreditation Board for Testing<br />
and Calibration Laboratories<br />
(NABL). The Quality Management<br />
norms are as per ISO/IEC 17025<br />
– 2005. SASMIRA laboratory<br />
has also received International<br />
Accreditation from American<br />
Association for Accreditation<br />
<strong>of</strong> Laboratory (A2LA) during<br />
financial year.<br />
= Latest Test Standards from<br />
different bodies like IS, BS, EN,<br />
ISO, JS have been procured,<br />
along with books and periodicals<br />
related to technical <strong>textiles</strong>.<br />
Setting up <strong>of</strong> e-library. SASMIRA<br />
website has been redesigned and<br />
made interactive with updated<br />
information on Agro<strong>textiles</strong><br />
= Demonstration and Product<br />
Development facilities: The<br />
following machineries have been<br />
set-up for product development<br />
and demonstrations<br />
a. Nonwoven needle punching<br />
machine- Dilo<br />
b. Raschel warp knitting<br />
machine- Karl Mayer<br />
c. Rapier weaving machine-<br />
Dornier<br />
= Setting up <strong>of</strong> Training centre initiated.<br />
Video Conferencing system for<br />
training has been installed.<br />
3. Development <strong>of</strong> an Audio-visual film<br />
on application <strong>of</strong> Agrotextile Products<br />
A short film on “ Samruddhike Aur”<br />
(Towards the growth and prosperity)<br />
based on importance <strong>of</strong> agrotextile<br />
products, usages and benefits having<br />
duration <strong>of</strong> 30 minutes has been<br />
produced with the help <strong>of</strong> National<br />
Film Development Corporation<br />
(NFDC). This Audio-visual film is<br />
expected to be used for publicity <strong>of</strong><br />
agrotextile products through various<br />
digital media. A five minute film on<br />
the advantages <strong>of</strong> shade nets and<br />
ground covers has also been made.<br />

TESTING SERVICES<br />
An important activity <strong>of</strong> SASMIRA is testing<br />
and technical services. SASMIRA’s testing<br />
services are accredited by the National<br />
Accreditation Board to the Testing and<br />
Calibration Laboratory (NABL). Testing<br />
is as per ISO/IEC 17025 norms.The<br />
laboratory also achieved an International<br />
Accreditation from American Association<br />
<strong>of</strong> Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA, USA)<br />
