Publicity through BTL Activities:<br />
The publicity carried out under the BTL<br />
activities are (i) domestic and international<br />
exhibitions (ii) Cluster Level Seminars (iii)<br />
Awareness/Dissemination.<br />
Grant in-Aid for Handloom Mark<br />
A Grant-in-Aid <strong>of</strong> Rs. 1.21 Cr. is sanctioned<br />
vide the letter No. 15/1/2010-DCH/P&E<br />
dated 23.06.2011 after deducting the<br />
balance amount already available with<br />
<strong>Textiles</strong> Committee from the amount<br />
sanctioned for release (Rs.3,50,00,000/- -<br />
Rs.2,29,00,000/-) towards first installment<br />
for the year 2011-12. Action for the<br />
release <strong>of</strong> the amount is under progress.<br />
<strong>Textiles</strong> Committee has so far spent a total<br />
amount <strong>of</strong> Rs. 36,77,800/- towards the<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> Handloom mark (Field<br />
activities - Rs. 16,43,311/- and for the<br />
publicity activities Rs. 20,34,489/-) in the<br />
current year.<br />
Market Research :<br />
National Household Survey 2010: Market<br />
for <strong>Textiles</strong> & Clothing (MTC)<br />
The survey has been carried out regularly<br />
for estimating the domestic consumption<br />
pattern <strong>of</strong> <strong>textiles</strong> <strong>of</strong> India. The data is<br />
collected through a national level sample<br />
survey organised from 14250 households<br />
based at 118 urban and 265 rural centres<br />
<strong>of</strong> the country with the help <strong>of</strong> Stratified<br />
Random Sampling (SRS) method. The<br />
report is generated with the help <strong>of</strong><br />
scientifically developed methodology<br />
for tabulation and analysis <strong>of</strong> survey<br />
report. The report for 2010 published and<br />
disseminated among the key stakeholders<br />
<strong>of</strong> trade & <strong>industry</strong>.<br />
Initiatives on Geographical Indication<br />
IPR Protection <strong>of</strong> unique <strong>textiles</strong> through<br />
Geographical Indication Act, 1999<br />
The <strong>Textiles</strong> Committee has facilitated<br />
GI registration <strong>of</strong> 7 products during<br />
2010 – 11. The project is sponsored<br />
by the State Governments <strong>of</strong> Uttar<br />
Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra &<br />
Kerala. The products taken up are (1)<br />
Bhandara-Tussar Fabrics (2) Lucknow-<br />
Zardozi <strong>of</strong> UP (3) Agra-Durries <strong>of</strong> UP,<br />
(4) Maunath-Bhanjan Sarees & Fabrics<br />
<strong>of</strong> UP (5) Farukkhabad-Cotton Prints <strong>of</strong><br />
U.P. (6) Udupi-Saree <strong>of</strong> Karnataka and<br />
(7) Bhagalpur-Silk <strong>of</strong> Bihar. The status<br />
<strong>of</strong> the facilitation is given at table 13.5<br />
211
