majority. In recent years with Britain entering the European Community, black peoplehave yet again been placed in the underclass as they struggle to compete against EUcitizens to get work and to be recognized a valuable part of the work force other than fitonly for menial tasks. With little recognized status in the world of work it is not surprisingthat members of this marginalized community seek refuge in their church, an organizationwhere Black people are in positions of power and control (Toulis, 1997).5.3.1 Charismatic LeadersCharismatic leaders are associated with charismatic gifts within Pentecostalism asdescribed by Anderson (2004) in the tradition broadly derived from Weber‟s (1947 )discussion of the role of charisma in legitimation. In biblical terms pastors, teachers, apostles, bishops are names used to denote people of high authority and withleadership qualities. The Charismatic movement has brought focus on the doctrine of theHoly Spirit and how to express this in their worship (McGrath 1997).
