s The research in this area includes setting up and
continuing investigations relating to the optimisation of
outpatient assistance for individuals with dementia in a
metropolitan environment (healthcare, cooperation and
supportive conditions). Experience shows that persons
with dementia who have informed and committed
relatives are characterised by low thresholds for entry
into the healthcare system in Düsseldorf. The research
group is closely associated with the Düsseldorf
dementia network, which was founded by the local
cooperation partners – the Dementia Service Centre,
Caritas, the German Red Cross, Diakonie in Düsseldorf,
Kaiserswerther Diakonie and the Gerontopsychiatry
Institute outpatient department of the LVR-Klinikum –
to cover the following three main topics:
s Consultation services that actively approach people
with dementia
s Home care and care agency for hour-wise relief of
relatives at home
s Care groups for relieving nursing relatives
