persons – several target syndromes need to be addressed at the same time, individualised treatment plans are created on the basis of the entire range of treatments available in the division. The objective of the treatment – abstinence – is worked towards by using a psychoeducational approach in individual and group therapy sessions (for example in motivational groups in which addictive behaviour patterns are analysed). The Institutional Outpatient Unit provides continuity of treatment by allowing the patient to consult the medical doctor he has come to know from his inpatient treatment. Milieu therapy and psychotherapy unit The complex range of therapies offered by unit 14 G aims to treat acute mental disorders through drug treatment and psychotherapy, but also to prevent secondary disabilities and to promote the reintegration into an appropriate social environment. These therapies are designed to help persons who require – in addition to treatment for their acute symptoms – a range of additional person-centred or environment-related interventions (family and marital therapy) in an inpatient setting. On a social level, the preparations for a reintegration into active work and employment have a high priority. Day Care Unit The range of therapies offered by the Day Care Unit is mainly designed to help people suffering from depression, anxiety or the negative symptoms of a psychosis. Treatment is mainly based on psychoeducation and psychotherapy (in individual as well as group sessions) in combination with drug treatment. One advantage of this approach is that patients can receive treatment while remaining in their families and social environments. This allows us to narrow the focus of the therapy – for the entire length of its duration – to those areas of patients’ lives in which the disorder occurred or became apparent. Patients therefore have the opportunity to subject the experiences they have practised at the Day Care Unit to an immediate practical test – or, conversely, to analyse conflicts and problems experienced at home in the Day Care Unit. Institutional Outpatient Unit The Institutional Outpatient Unit provides therapies for persons with a difficult course or chronically recurrent symptoms, for example persons suffering from schizophrenic psychoses, affective disorders, severe personality disorders or comorbid symptoms. A multiprofessional team provides different types of diagnostics and treatments in highly individualised one-on-one and group sessions.
