Some other people are worthy of special mention here. 2004 saw the much
too premature death of the head of the Division of Dependence Disorders,
W. Burtscheidt. The successor as head of the division, P. Franke, came to
Düsseldorf from Bonn. In 2005, the long-term head of the Department of
Gerontopsychiatry Dr. Ch. Kretschmar, retired and was succeeded by T.
Supprian from Homburg/Saar. In 2008, the long-serving head of the Division of
General Psychiatry I, H. Quadbeck, retired, and was succeeded by S. Cohen. The
retirement of Prof. Dr. rer. nat E. Lehmann in 2004 and Dr. rer. soc. U. Müller in
2009 saw the departure of the long-term directors of the Clinical Psychology
and Psychiatric Sociology Research Units of the department, respectively.
Two consultants at the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf took up chairs elsewhere in
their relevant specialist areas (Prof. Dr. rer.soc. F. Schneider, Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy, RWTH Aachen in 2004; Prof. Dr. med. J. Kruse, Psychosomatic
Medicine and Psychotherapy, University of Gießen in 2009). Another
appointment was that of the long-term head of the network headquarters for
the Competence Network on Schizophrenia, Prof. Dr. phil. W. Wölwer, who was
appointed Professor of Experimental Psychopathology at the Heinrich-Heine
University Düsseldorf in 2008.
