On the other hand, people with primary neurological illnesses and secondary
mental disorders are treated; they have been diagnosed with the following
medical conditions:
s Degenerative brain disorders (Morbus Alzheimer, Parkinson “Plus”,
frontal-temporal atrophies such as Pick’s disease, Huntington’s

ever since it was established, and the division has received relatively large
numbers of referrals from other hospitals including other neurology
departments as well as directly from doctors in general practice both from
within and outside the region.

Frequently treated patient groups who require neurological care or combined
care at the neighbouring General Hospital suffer from:
s Disturbed cerebral blood flow
s Epilepsy or cerebral seizures
s Peripheral-neurological disorders as a consequence of head
injuries or surgery
Disturbed cerebral blood flow is numerically the largest group of all
neurological illnesses. The division provides neurological care and advice
at the Sana Hospital in Gerresheim. After diagnostics and acute therapy,
these patients require differentiated treatment, which is provided by the
Division of Neurology at the LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf. This also applies to
people suffering from cerebral epileptic seizures. The situation is similar for
peripheral neurological care required in the wake of emergency surgery and
senology performed at the Sana Hospital in Gerresheim and required by the
LVR-Klinikum Düsseldorf, mainly by the Division of Dependence Disorders
(alcoholic neuropathies, pressure palsies).
